Araghchi: Cairo Agreement considered officially terminated
.
Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, reacting to the illegal and unjustified action of the three European countries and the United States in presenting an anti-Iranian resolution at the meeting of the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency, which was approved under the pressure of these four countries and despite the opposing and abstaining votes of 15 members, said: These countries, with this action of theirs and disregard for Iran's interactions and goodwill, have undermined the credibility and independence of the Agency and caused disruption in the process of interactions and cooperation between the Agency and Iran.
Araghchi added: Although after the illegal action of the three European countries in the United Nations Security Council to reinstate the terminated Security Council resolutions, the Cairo Agreement was practically no longer a basis for relations between Iran and the Agency in the safeguards area, but today, in an official letter to the Director General of the Agency, it was announced that this Agreement is no longer valid and is considered terminated.
