Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran –Press Release

The Zionist Regime’s Unprovoked Aggression Against Iran: A Brazen Assault on Sovereignty a Gross Violation of International Law and a Grave Threat to Global Security and Regional Stability

The occupying and rogue Zionist regime has violated Iran’s territorial integrity and national sovereignty, attacking multiple locations, including residential areas in Tehran and other cities. As a result, several of Iran’s noblest patriots—defenders of its dignity, sovereignty, and scientific progress—alongside innocent civilians, were martyred.

As a founding member of the United Nations, an institution established to prevent aggression and threats to peace, the Islamic Republic of Iran underscores the Security Council’s obligation to act immediately against this breach of international peace and stability.

The Security Council and Secretary-General must condemn this aggression unequivocally and act immediately. This is not just an attack on Iran—it is an assault on the international legal order and threat against regional security. Inaction will embolden the aggressor and deepen regional chaos.

We also expect all UN member states and governments committed to international peace to swiftly condemn this criminal aggression and take collective action against this reckless adventurism, which threatens global stability.

The grave consequences of this aggression rest entirely on the Zionist regime and its supporters.

This attack could not have occurred without U.S. coordination and approval. As the regime’s primary patron, the U.S. government will bear responsibility for the repercussions of these reckless actions.

In a deliberate escalation violating the UN Charter and international law, Israel launched coordinated military assaults on Iranian cities, peaceful nuclear facilities, senior officials, scientists, and civilians.

Among the targets was the Natanz and Isfahan nuclear facilities—safeguarded IAEA sites. These attacks endangered civilian lives and risked a radiological catastrophe, undermining the non-proliferation regime and the IAEA’s mission.

Simultaneously, targeted assassinations of Iranian military officials and scientists in Tehran constitute state terrorism. The regime’s Prime Minister has openly claimed responsibility, admitting to these heinous crimes.

These actions violate Iran’s sovereignty, constitute aggression and war crimes under international law, and blatantly breach Article 2(4) of the UN Charter. This is another example of Israel’s destabilizing behavior, now crossing every red line.

The Islamic Republic of Iran reserves its inherent right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter. We will respond decisively and proportionately to protect our sovereignty, people, and security. Israel will regret this reckless miscalculation.
